 The moment tweets started circulating about the potential
hire of Garrick McGee as the next head football coach at UAB, fans began to
voice their approval. The excitement grew to nervousness as fans waited to hear
an official word from the UAB Athletics Department.
Seconds turned to minutes, minutes
turned to hours, and hours turned to a day and a half.
Finally, UAB had its coach, Garrick McGee, former offensive coordinator
of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Coach McGee’s pedigree has been well covered by
media and discussed greatly on message boards like Blazertalk.com, however, what
seems to his biggest asset is his eagerness to be at UAB.
McGee toured UAB facilities, or lack thereof, and he
stilled believed in himself and this university enough to accept the challenge.
In his first press conference he decided to throw all excuses out of the
window and he vowed to bring a conference championship to Birmingham, Alabama.
Garrick has generated more excitement
about UAB football than we have experienced since the announcement to go
